Vintage signs from the post modern era rank high on the list. Charlotte has some great mid-century era signs and Nonprofit Historic Charlotte, Inc. has partnered with Southern brew JFG coffee to help “Save Our Signs”.
Modern Meets Classic in Foxcroft
Submitted by Gail Jodon on March 2, 2010 - 1:07amIt is pretty hard to miss the red box rising above the roofline of a classic designed traditional home in Charlotte's Foxcroft neighborhood! What will the neighbor's say? Dialect Design's Toby Witte and Jahan Nourbakhsh, teamed up with forward thinking home owners that wanted a cool modern addition that serves as a children's wing/cool playhouse. I really enjoyed meeting Toby and Jahan and touring this fun, modern design. These are some lucky kids!

Shopping for your Modern Charlotte Home
Submitted by Gail Jodon on February 11, 2010 - 11:20pmSo where do you find the modern gear for you mid-century modern home ? I love going to estate sales and have found some amazing pieces at bargain prices. OK you may have to overlook a ding, scrape, etc but I think it adds character . Remember, the estate sale ads hit the Charlotte Observer on Thursday! Area 4, 5, and 6 take in the 60's burbs and are your best bet!
One of my pals sends me about 5 items a day she finds on Crag's list Charlotte. Key words,:retro, Danish Modern, EAMES, vintage Knoll, Saarinen, etc etc. There are some great MCM dealers in Charlotte selling on Craig's list!
